"A little about myself. I am 63 years old and retired from the construction engineering field. I grew up as a multi-sport athlete who played everything hard and at times neglecting my body, which was not uncommon back then. It’s just a bump, bruise, sprain, knock to the head, etc…the healing process was just get over it and move on!?

Over the years my wonky left shoulder experienced five total dislocations, the right shoulder had to endure 30 years of physical use on construction sites as well hitting thousands of volleyballs both playing and coaching. Three major surgeries to my left knee, two ACL replacements and finally a total knee replacement plus learning to deal with the imbalances associated with that took its toll on my hips and back.

I guess the moral to this story would be, slow down, enjoy retirement and seek out complimentary activities. But no, my 28-year-old ego and 63-year-old body needed one more life lesson. In May, I decided on laying 700 sq. feet of hardwood, baseboards and painting four bedrooms. Yup, the perfect storm! A week later, both shoulders seized up, compounded by bursitis/arthritis and impingement of nerves in neck, shoulders, all the way down both arms and into both hands causing them to swell and lock-up. Both hips and upper legs shut down.

Overall lost 25Ibs of weight, muscle mass.

My bad weekly golf game became a pipe dream, opening a bottle of water an exercise in futility and getting up from the floor was like watching a fish out of water.

That’s where Kate and Mike come in.

Knowing how both of them care about all of their clientele, I knew I’d be in capable hands. They made me feel reassured and that what I was enduring was temporary. Progress was made in baby steps and they understood exactly what I needed to push ahead. They also worked to coordinate that my needs were in line with the physiotherapist I worked with locally. I am well on my way and can’t wait to get back out on the links!

I would highly recommend Virtue Healthcare to anyone whether they are looking for rehab, maintenance or just a healthier path forward.

I have been doing 3 pre-planned sessions a week as well one private weekly virtual session during my recovery over the past 6 months and I fully intend on extending this past my rehab as a healthier path forward and continued maintenance!

Keep up the wonderful work Kate and Mike!

I am so grateful to both of these incredible people not only for what they do on a weekly basis, but also for guiding me to such a positive, empowered outlook on health.”
