Joanne: “I first met Kate when she worked at Forge, she was a personal trainer and I was in need of a change. I was in a job I did not enjoy, and I thought if I wanted to become unstuck, I would start with my physical body and see where it would take me. Kate and I set some big goals, because I wanted a big change. We planned a Tough Mudder in June and a powerlifting meet in November. I wanted to see if powerlifting was something I wanted to pursue. She always knew when to push and when to back off my training. When I had hurt my back at work and was a little weary of training, she encouraged me to go gentle but to keep going.

During our planning for the Tough Mudder, Kate had hurt her knee, she was devastated but remained hopeful. Just watching her dedication to her own recovery was such an inspiration. She emulated to me self-care and dedication to her own goals. Although our trainer Kate could not participate in the Tough Mudder, her partner Mike subbed in. They both are the best cheer leaders! My two daughters and now some great friends finished that beast together!

Mike worked in Victoria at Fix as an RMT for five years, and I needed recovery time.  I started seeing him for work on my back and shoulders. His extensive  knowledge of anatomy forms the basis of his work as an RMT. Always encouraging mobility training, when to back off the hard work, and when to lean into it.

I am so excited to see what Kate and Mike will build together on their new venture, with their extensive knowledge of exercise, recovery, and anatomy. With their integrity and dedication to live a better and whole life, their willingness to share their knowledge, they genuinely want you to live the better and whole life that you want to create.

Both Mike and Kate have been a part of my recent journey, to health, to design the life I want to live. Though I may not be where I want to be, I know it is within my power to get there. To set big goals, to dream big dreams, to get unstuck and rock a powerlifting competition!”

Kate: “Joanne was an absolute pleasure to work with. She showed up at least 30 minutes early to every session to begin prepping her body and mind for our training. She was so dedicated to self-improvement, it was truly inspiring.

She set a goal of trying one new thing every month for a year. She ended up having 12 new experiences from paddle-boarding to Tough Muddering to powerlifting. It was a year of exploration, learning and pushing herself outside her comfort zone. She is a walking example of someone who has been taking control of her life, and always seeking improvement in all aspects to find her true passions and what keeps her excited for every new day. Her and her family, who Mike and I had the pleasure to get to know over time, are some of the kindest people on this earth. They are caring, driven, and have a very close family dynamic. Much love to all the Figs!”
